Skateboard panel set 2011

3/4/11

Hello, I am very pleased with the work that came out of this new project: Skateboard panel set 2011.  I was commissioned to do a painting on a skateboard deck, but I thought that this piece had to be in a panel set.  This awesome skatespot in Santabarbara had to have this must needed 3 deck series.  Alexa, came to me with this idea and I envisioned this outcome.  I enjoyed this piece allot, since I truely love skateboarding myself and have been around the culture for some 20 years now.  Thanks, Alexa for choosing Amjart for your special art needs and ideas, and the best to you and JR!  Thanks again.

2010 Payday contest Transworld mag "I wanna win Kenny's Steez"

7/30/10

 36x48" Acrylics on canvass (textured).

This is my official entry for the Kenny Anderson PAYDAY contest recreate, draw, or paint one of the most steeziest skate photos you can think of. My painting is called "Koston Hubba."  This painting is a direct translation of what I think is the beauty and the art of skateboarding. I've been skating since 1987and I wanted to share my love and passion for the sport through this painting. There are many different elements that make up skate culture and I hope that when people see this painting they can feel the movement and the grace that it takes to do this trick. The photo I chose is this super stylish steezy photo of Eric Koston, back nose blunt Hubba hide out 1999 (photo courtesy of BLABAC) featured in Transworld Volume 26 issue #2 February 2008, page 122, 10 backside nose blunts for the history books. enjoy!

Peace,

Alex

Stoked!!

2/10/10

I recently sent in my artwork to the official Transworld skateboarding mag contest (Paint or Draw Lance's favorite skater, located under  "Payday"  in  Transworld Dec 2009. I had the chance to have my work displayed in front of  Lance Mountain (legendery skater) maybe even hangin in Lance's house. Now, give it that most of the time in these contests you never ever get your artwork back, and most of the time you never get to see what happens..you just get the results of the winner and pray that your entry wins, right!  Well the other night I had recieved my new Transworld and was reading it, came to find out I wasn't the winner, but I wanted to see who did win.  So we tried to google the winners name and looked it up on Transworlds website...we couldnt find any pictures or any video...then we stumbled upon a picture that said it had a video that was coming soon that featured Lance picking the winner from this contest. The message said they had to call in Lance to pick the winner since there were so many wonderful pieces sent in....just to our surprise... we found my piece!!      There in a picture was Lance himself, unscrolling my art, the art that took a lot of love to make...and a whole lot of wonderful skating memories while doing so!  I'am so blessed and thankful for this little bit of love. So Im sharing this with you, and I'am looking foward to that video coming soon.  Lance Mountain (legnedary skater) check out my work! Stoked me out! Thank you Transworld for this opportunity.  How awesome.

Peace,

Alex

Tony Alva skateboard legend

12/9/09

I will be submitting this piece to Transworld skateboarding magazine for a contest thier having this month in the section Payday Lance Mountain. Paint or draw one of Lance's favorit skaters, so I came to the conclusion of Tony Alva being one of Lances favorites. I worked hard on this piece,  being a true passionate lover of skateboarding helpled me to feel this out on a deeper scale. It was so much fun creating this art, I day dreamed alot about how fun skating is and has always been for me all these years on a board, and to create something for two legends was an honor. Lance is super respected in my eyes as much as Tony Alva, and I looked up to Lance when I was a kid, and used to watch him on Powell. Its awesome to know that no matter how old we get, our idols or people we look up to never change.

thanks for stopping by and checking out this piece!

peace to you and your families happy holidays AMJART!

AMJ sketches life in Lake Tahoe

7/15/09

I had a great time in Tahoe on Vacation this last week.  Tahoe is amazing and beautiful, so emense and pure, so crisp and clean.  I had to take advantage of this quiet time to do some scapes.  I indulged in some scenic bike rides and plunges into the cold ace lake.  Here are my sketches! Enjoy!  May there be peace to all of you friends.  sincerly Alex M Jimenez.
